The Edwardian Jewelry period lasted from 1901-1914 and was named after King Edward. An extremely wealthy society emerged during his reign with a high optimism of the new century. Tiaras, diadems, hair ornaments, earrings, necklaces, strands of pearls, brooches, pendants, armlets, rings, belt buckles, and pendant watches were popular jewelry types in this period. Naturalistic design elements included pierced openwork, stars, animals, and scroll and foil motifs. Diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, opals, pearls, demantiod garnets, yellow gold and platinum were used materials.
